The 2005 Season
SEPTEMBER SHELSLEY WRAPS UP BEST YEAR EVER
The
tremendous 2005 Centenary year came to a close at Shelsley Walsh over the
weekend of September 10th and 11th with the final meeting at the hill for
the season. In overcast, but uitimately dry conditions, everyone had a dry
run on Sunday when Willem Toet won the first run off, and Roger Moran won
the second. Scott Moran however, took Best Time of Day for the second weekend
on the bounce after winning both British Championship rounds at Prescott the
week before.
In the absence of the fastest of cars, some got into a run off for the very first time such as Tony Hunt in his Force. Jim Bassett did too alongside, Ian Fidoe, John Jones, John Chalmers, Toet, Morans, Jos Goodyear, Trevor Willis, Lynn and Steve Owen.
Jerry Neary was competing over the weekend, but went home with two cars as he was the winner of the brand new Lotus Elise in our season long raffle! Jerry was presented with the car on the startline immediately after the draw was made. Our thanks going to Stratstone of Mayfair for their help with the car, and Footman James for supplying a year’s free insurance for Jerry.
Roger Thomas attended the meeting after a spell in hospital too. He is recovering well after some surgery and was happy to stand back and watch the action. We all hope he continues to get better.
Don’t forget to keep in touch with Shelsley Walsh news over the winter here on the website. We will be posting pictures from the year throughout the off season.
Also don’t forget to notify us of your interest in the Shelsley Walsh 100th Anniversary Weekend DVD that will be available Mid to late October. It is a professionally produced DVD with about 75 minutes of action and interviews.
