BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP AT SHELSLEY THIS WEEKEND - JUNE 3rd & 4th
The
British Hill Climb Championship is at Shelsley Walsh this coming weekend with
all of the leading cars and drivers present fresh from the latest round at
Gurston Down last weekend. 2005 British Champion Martin Groves set 23.86 seconds
at Shelsley during at this forthcoming meeting 12 months ago, en route to
his 2005 British Hill Climb title. Upon returning to the hill in August he
further lowered the record to an incredible 23.77 seconds; the current mark.
The question is whether Willem Toet will be able to appear with his Shelsley
Run-Off winning Pilbeam that now has a 2.65 litre V8 Twin Turbo engine that
has been considerable de-tuned from the initial 980 bhp it first had after
a winter rebuild!
Groves leads the title chase this year, but is being pursued hard by Scott
Moran and Mike Dean who both finished on the podium last time out at Gurston.
Practice is on Saturday with the first class runs to count for the competition
proper kicking off on Sunday morning at 10.00.
