The 2007 Season

SHELSLEY RECORD SHATTERED BY SCOTT MORAN

The Shelsley Walsh meeting on 3 June held in dry warm conditions provided a quite sensational glut of records on the newly resurfaced hill. Not only were many records broken by more than one person or broken twice by the same person - or both, but many were lowered by remarkable margins.

The outright hill record was broken several times during the day and on the penultimate run Scott Moran broke it for the last time and left it at 22.83 seconds, almost a second under the previous record that was Martin Groves’ at 23.75.

The exceptional Sue Young lowered her own Ladies record to 24.73 seconds in front of a large and appreciative crowd.

Roger Banks' Audi A4 29.16 took two seconds off the over 2 litre Mod Prod record.

Ash Mason did 30.44 in his Westfield in the over 1400cc Mod Prod class.

The new Ferrari marque is now 34.35 by local man David Tomlin.

George Brown took the Force chassis to re-set Mark Budgett's 2002 1100cc record, leaving it at 26.88.

The big class record went to Groves in 23.25.

Chris Pickering took a hundredth off a Phil Cooke 1600 record to 26.08.

Tom New moved a Willis 2 litre record down to 25.39.

Mike Endean's Gould Puma has toppled the late Tom Hammonds' closed car record from 28.58 to 28.06.

Class M1 M2 - 1972 - 1985 racing cars, Peter Cox Chevron 28.84.

N1 N2 classic saloon and sports cars, Kelvin Lee 31.62.

And one the timekeepers missed, Paul Matty Lotus's Chris Beardsmore 30.91.

An exceptional day’s sport....
