PETER COLLINS MEETING IN AUGUST TAKING SHAPE
Over the weekend of August 17th, Shelsley Walsh will celebrate life of Peter Collins who was killed racing a Ferrari at the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring in August 1958. It will be 50 years ago to the month.
Peter was a Worcestershire man, his family ran a Ford dealership in Kidderminster, he competed at Shelsley throughout his career and his grave is at the nearby Stone church where there is a stained glass window to his memory, the only one to feature a chequered flag.
There will be a class at the meeting composed of cars which Peter drove or which were associated with him. Aston Martin, Ferrari, Cooper, Farrallac, H.W.M., Sunbeam Talbot
There will be drivers present who raced with him, people who knew him and Peter’s widow, Louise will be coming over from America
