Successful second meeting of July at Shelsley Walsh

Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb completed the July programme with two one-day meetings on the weekend of 19th and 20th July.

The Saturday event was for 'B' license competitors from the MAC and other invited clubs along with a round of the Luffield MG Car Club Hillclimb and Sprint Championship. Best Time of the Day (BTD) went to Nigel Morris from the village of Rock with a time of 27.14 seconds on his second timed run driving his DJ Firehawk single seat racing car.
Second BTD fell to Tim Elmer with a time of 27.57 seconds in his Dallara racing car.

The Sunday event was the annual Classic Meeting in association with Classic and Sports Car Magazine. Pre-War BTD went to Shelsley Walsh pre-war record holder Mac Hulbert with a time of 34.14 seconds driving the world famous ERA R4D that is associated with Raymond Mays and Ken Wharton. Hulbert recorded the same 34.14 in both of his timed runs of the day.

Overall BTD went to Abberley' resident Peter Cox with a time of 27.65 seconds in his historic and immaculate 1978 Chevron B42 single seat racing car. Second BTD of 28.25 seconds went to well known Stockton on Teme resident Keith Harris also driving a Chevron, a 1973 B25 model.

The next Shelsey Walsh event on the weekend of the 16th and 17th of August is the Peter Collins Commemoration meeting which hosts rounds of the British, Midland & Leaders Championship. This is usually the fastest meeting of the year with all the top registered competitors entered including series leader Scott Moran who looks on course for his first MSA British Championship title.
